![]() I personally prefer the high back deluxe inflatable seats offered in the Pro Package over the SEC kayak seat. I have done all day paddling trips in the Sea Eagle 370 and been very comfortable. These kayaks are more comfortable than one might think. ![]() When the kayak is loaded properly it tracks well and glides smoothly. It basically comes down to weight distribution so just be aware when packing the kayak that the more evenly you can distribute the weight, the better it will perform. When I tried moving the back seat a little closer to the front seat I found that the tracking wasn’t as good. I find that with the back seat almost all the way at the back and the front seat about 3/4 of the way up the front the tracking is best. The tracking is good as long as you have the kayak inflated properly and the seats positioned in the right space. It is fairly light weight and takes very little effort to turn quickly. I find this model to be particularly easy to turn and maneuver. The 370 can hold up to 650 pounds of cargo and consequently can be loaded right up and keep on floating and tracking well. □Įven though this is an entry level kayak it is still a lot more solid than many other inflatable kayaks in this price range. However when paddling solo, your dog can have the second seating position all to himself. The dog will definitely end up between your legs. just for a little extra protection and comfort.Īlso worth noting there isn’t a lot of extra room in the kayak for a larger dog if paddling with two people. If you have a large dog I would recommend putting down a towel or a mat. My dogs are small and they often sit on top of the spray skirts at the front and back of the kayak. My dogs absolutely love going kayaking with me. In fact I would highly encourage bringing your dogs along for the ride if paddling on calm water. The Sea Eagle inflatable kayaks are made to be very durable, even their base Sport models. Let me put your mind at ease… I paddle with my dogs in the 370 Sport all the time. I can understand the concern, the boat is inflatable after all and most wonder if a dogs claws will puncture the material. I find that most people are a bit concerned about bringing a dog into an inflatable kayak.

However, because I heard the snort-wheeze, I believe at least one buck is in that area. I believe that buck was thinking “Okay, I heard the rattling and the grunting, but I didn’t see the deer. I know for certain if I hadn’t given that deer the snort-wheeze call when I did, he would have gotten downwind of me and smelled me or snuck in behind me. Then 40-yards from my stand was where I took him. Before he got within range, he started hooking a small sapling with his antlers and going to war on that little tree as if to say, “I want you to see and hear how tough I am and realize that now I’m coming after you.” He left the sapling, but he was still bristled-up and ears back. Once I finally blew the snort-wheeze at him, instead of being casually interested and trying to get downwind, he immediately bristled-up like a wild turkey in full strut, laid his ears back in an aggressive posture and came marching stiff-legged to my stand site. This buck knew that he should be able to see a buck fight when he heard the rattling and grunting coming from my calls. I could see the bigger bucks circling and trying to get downwind of my calling site. I started calling by rattling and grunting and called in two small bucks. ![]() ![]() The last buck I took with a snort-wheeze was on a hunt in Texas. When you see a big buck traveling by himself, and you blow the snort-wheeze at him, I’ve seen bucks stop, turn, look and come running in to my stand site to run off what they believe to be an intruder buck that’s expanding his home range and moving into their territory. The grunt call and the bleat call are the calls I use most effectively anywhere in the country, but I always have a snort-wheeze call in my daypack. The snort-wheeze has been extremely effective for me in the Midwest and in Texas. I believe the snort-wheeze call is specific to your region of the country and the quality of the deer herd. In my home state of New York where we have way too many does for the number of bucks we have, I don’t use the snort-wheeze very often. Competition for does is what causes bucks to be called in more effectively using deer calls. I’ve had tremendous success using the snort-wheeze in areas with a more-balanced deer herd - for instance, one buck for every one doe or up to one buck for every three does. One of the most important and overlooked aspects of deer calling is that deer calls have a certain time and place that they can be effective in, and the snort-wheeze is very definitely a situation call. The Deer Thugs Weezzy is a very simple, uncomplicated call that anyone can use, and it can be deadly effective. When the Weezzy Snort-Wheeze call was first introduced to the deer-hunting community, there was quite a bit of skepticism associated with whether or not the Weezzy Snort-Wheeze actually would call in bucks. According to Kirby, “Stalking deer is as much about what to say and when to say it as it is blowing the correct and an accurate call.” Quaker Boy and Mossy Oak have partnered to create the Deer Thugs and Turkey Thugs brands of calls, and a portion of the sales from each one of these calls goes to help wounded warriors through the Hope For The Warriors Outdoor Adventures Program. His father, Dick Kirby, founded Quaker Boy Calls, and he and Chris have hunted all over the nation with bows, rifles, pistols and muzzleloaders.
